CYO Spring Sports & Camp Howard Updates

December 10, 2020

Dear Families,

May this holiday season be a very blessed one in spite of the unique happenings in the world around us. In Christ, we find our peace amidst the struggles of a challenging year engaging the pandemic. CYO/CH is working toward a more fruitful outcome in 2021. Please see our Spring Sports and Summer Camp plans below.

PLANS FOR SPRING SPORTS:

  • NEW modified sport this spring. We are putting together plans for cross country races which will include longer and shorter races to appeal to participation levels of more youth.
  • FLEXIBILITY: We will monitor how the situation develops as far as the state re-opening, particularly as we approach Spring. We may flex from a more conservative approach if it is warranted based on the state status and level of restrictions.
  • REGISTRATION: We intend to open registration by the end of January for sign-ups for Spring events.
  • PRACTICES: We understand that youth may not be able to gather at your school. We will be addressing how events and practices may be operated.
  • VENUES: Jesuit High School and Camp Howard are two of the facilities that will be available for our Spring events.
  • THANK YOU to the CYO Track & Field Sports Commission for their continued efforts on this new program!

PLANS FOR SUMMER CAMP

  • DAY CAMP: Summer day camp will be offered at Camp Howard this summer with bus transportation from the East & Westside.
  • FLEXIBILITY: In the event that camps open up for overnight camping, we will adapt to accommodate.
  • REGISTRATION: We intend to open registration by the end of January.

FINANCIAL NEED

  • Thank you to the many supporters throughout the city who have been so good in stepping up and helping us financially.
  • Thank you to the 125 supporters who recently helped us raise over $50,000 on Giving Tuesday.
  • SUPPORT STILL NEEDED: I am confident that with God’s help, and the heart of our faithful supporters, we will reach our funding goals.

We are at a crucial point regarding the future with CYO/Camp Howard and enthusiastic as we begin looking to better days ahead.

God Bless you!
With sincere gratitude,

Sister Krista von Borstel
