Camp Howard has been working closely with the state over the last two months, and on May 7 the state gave all camps the green light to open as of May 15, and when Clackamas County was allowed to be open by the state. On May 15 Governor Brown released an update which prevents overnight camps from opening at this time.

With the Governor’s announcement May 15 for no overnight camping at this time, along with our own business analysis for the camp, we made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 season. This decision is heartbreaking to all of our camp team and for me as the Executive Director of CYO/Camp Howard. We know how incredibly valuable a week at Camp Howard is for the youth in our community and the lifelong benefits it provides to our youth, family and community. God will provide and we have confidence in a brighter tomorrow. We will continue to move forward with hope and faith at CYO/Camp Howard.

If you were registered for summer camp 2020, you will receive an email outlining your options. If you are in the position to donate part or all of your camp fees, we would greatly appreciate that, as this decision does put camp in a difficult financial position. Other options are to move the registration fees into your account to apply for CYO Sports programs or 2021 summer camp. Finally, you can request a full refund.

I empathize with the disappointment that you must be feeling at this time. This would have been our 67th season of Camp Howard summer camps. Still, better days are ahead. We will be praying and focused on planning for a fulfilling 2021 camp season, anticipating the smiling faces, laughter and new friendships that make such wonderful Camp Howard memories.
