Welcome to the CYO Winter Basketball program! The season runs from November-March with two optional tournaments. There are 8 weeks of regular season games.
2024-2025 BASKETBALL SEASON INFORMATION
REGISTRATION FEE - $290.00 per participant LATE REGISTRATION FEE - N/A VOLUNTEER OPT OUT FEE - N/A BASKETBALL UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS - If you purchased a basketball uniform in the last two years and wanted to reuse it this year OR keep the same number, you need to add your player's name, grade, and jersey number to this Google Doc by 10/11 (LINK COMING SOON!). New players: Order your uniform here: LINK COMNG SOON! The uniform cost is $75, and players personalize with their LAST NAME ON THE BACK. There are three scenarios for returning players: 1. Returning players who wanted to keep their number and the exact same jersey: Deadline is 10/11 to update the Google Doc. 2. Returning players who wanted to keep their number but order a new jersey: Deadline is 10/11 to update the Google Doc, and then Traci will send you a link to order a new jersey with the same number (no order later than November 1). 3. Returning players who do not want to keep their number from last year, follow the instructions above for new players, please order using this link by November 1: (LINK COMING SOON).
EVALUATIONS - November 18 & 19All players need to attend the evaluations. Failure to attend will result in the athlete playing on the lower “B” team (for applicable grades). The only exception is an approved illness or injury that is approved by the AD. In this case, prior year evaluation and player’s skill level will be used for placement. Evaluations are conducted by independent evaluators. Coaches and parents are not able to stay in the gym during evaluations. The SPX AD will be present during evaluations. The teams will be determined by the outside evaluators. Based on the outcome of evaluations, the AD will communicate the teams to all registered players. PRACTICE TIMES - Practices will begin the week of November 18Coaches have the schedules, and will connect with their teams SEASON and SCHEDULE - Winter Season: November to February Schedule: Regular Season Games on Saturdays, Optional Jamboree Tournament in early December, Optional end of season Championships CONTACT INFORMATION - Questions? Registration closes on Friday November 15th, 2024 by midnight. Minimum of 8 players makes up a team. Teams will consist as follows: students from St Pius, then from our parish, as well as parishioners from St. Juan Diego Parish.To form two teams, we will need at least 16 players (8 for each team). Exceptions: Exceptions are any athlete that does not attend SPX parish or school. Only two exceptions are allowed per team. All Exceptions must fill out the exception form from our registration page. The decision to take an exception is made by the AD. Exceptions are not always taken.Coaches: We are always looking for great coaches! Please click on the link below to register. Coaches are selected by the Athletic Director (AD) and SPX CYO Board based on knowledge of the game, prior coaching experience, and good standing with the CYO and SPX community. Past coaches for St. Pius X CYO fall under the rule of good standing with the CYO and SPX community will be looked at first.Exception rules: We are only allowed 2 exceptions per team of 8. Having more than 2 per team of 8 will result in a possible disqualification or ineligibility to play in the end of the year tournament. Exceptions are not always taken. Past coaches for St Pius CYO and fall under the rule of good standing with the CYO and SPX Community will be looked at first.
