An Oregon native born and raised in North Central Oregon, on a wheat and cattle ranch that has been in the family since 1886. Sister Krista von Borstel attended Oregon State University to receive her bachelors in Education, Portland State University for a fifth year in Art Education and Lewis and Clark College for a Masters in Public Administration. After graduating from Oregon State she entered the religious community of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon in Beaverton Oregon in 1980. She began teaching at St. Mary of the Valley High School, now known as Valley Catholic High School and in 1987 became Vice Principal at the school. She added Athletic Directing duties in 1993. In 1995 Sister Krista was invited to become a member of the Executive Board of CYO/Camp Howard. In 1997 the position of Executive Director became available and Sister Krista applied for it. Sister Krista von Borstel has been with CYO since 1997. One of her most memorable life adventures was to ride a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon in 1991. She enjoys trap shooting and enjoys teaching the sport. She is also an avid golfer. |

Jolie Abraham Phanton grew up in Portland and attended St. Ignatius, Central Catholic and graduated from the University of Portland. She was involved in CYO sports and has many great memories from participating in basketball, volleyball, soccer, swimming, track & field and even softball. Jolie also played basketball and softball in high school. She is the 3rd of 4 girls and daughter of Bud and Sheryl Abraham who both coached CYO sports, including all of their girls in basketball. After graduating from college, Jolie worked in the television and radio business for several years. She also tried her hand with the family business in the sales and marketing department. In June of 2005 she became part of the amazing CYO/Camp Howard staff and has really found her place. Since 1996 she has been on the Blazer Broadcasting crew, freelancing for all home games which brought more opportunities to work on other sporting events. Jolie married Rick Phanton in 1999 and lived in Portland for 7 years. In 2006 they bought some property in Sandy and have gotten really involved in farming and agriculture. |

Mark Lee was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas but lived in Germany for his first 3 years, then grew up in Seattle, Washington. Mark lived in the Magnolia area and attended Our Lady of Fatima School, Blaine Jr. High, Queen Anne H.S. and then the University of Washington. He worked for The Bon and then Meier & Frank for 30 years in the Seattle, Roseburg, Boise, and Portland areas. He has worked with CYO for the past 23+ years as a Swim Coach for St. Joseph parish in Vancouver, and Swim Commission Chair; then came to CYO full time in 2005 as the Swimming and Track and Field Director. Mark is married, living in Vancouver, Washington, with 4, now grown, children, that all swam with CYO, and attended various parochial schools in Vancouver and Portland. He loves all water sports and runs the kayak camps at Camp Howard. |

Ally Hood grew up in SW Portland and attended Cathedral where she enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball and was a synchronized swimmer. She spent time as a camper at Camp Howard for 3 summers in a row. Some of her fondest memories are being a part of CYO/Camp Howard as a youngster. She attended St. Mary's academy and played Lacrosse. In 2004 she headed to Beloit College in Wisconsin receiving a degree in creative writing. In college she stayed busy by running cross country all for years. Ally also had the opportunity to study abroad in Copenhagen for one semester. She has a younger sister and brother. Ally began working in the accounting office after graduating in 2008 and is now the Business Manager. |

MaryAnn Altenhofen-Stewart came to work in the CYO Office after nearly four years of coordinating the CYO Dances. MaryAnn has a long history with CYO, she participated as a youth in the CYO program, playing volleyball, basketball, swimming and track. In 8th grade when there was not a girls basketball team she was able to play on her school's boys team! At La Salle High School MaryAnn played volleyball and basketball - winning the State Championship in 1983. MaryAnn and her husband Bryan attend St. John the Baptist Parish and have four children. In the past, MaryAnn was very active with her CYO Club; coaching, being on the CYO board for 4 years and cheered on the sidelines at the many CYO events that her children have participated in. MaryAnn also spent last summer as the Camp Howard registrar. She develops all of the end of season tournament program and plans and organizes the Family Fun Night which is held at Oaks Park during the summer. MaryAnn truly believes in CYO's philosophy that "all youth are given the opportunity to play"! |

Stacey Leffler grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana. She attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana and earned a degree in elementary education with a minor in special education. After graduating, Stacey made the decision to move somewhere new: Portland, Oregon! There she met Sister Krista at the Valley Catholic garage sale. Shortly after that meeting, she began working part time at CYO/Camp Howard. In July 2011, she became Director of Certifications, Compliance and Eligibility. |

Bill Fogarty grew up in North Portland where he attended both Holy Cross and St. Cecilia (Queen of Peace) parish schools and participated in several CYO sports including baseball, basketball and football. After graduating from Jefferson High School he enlisted in the Navy and enjoyed traveling to many interesting parts of the world. Upon his return to Oregon Bill attended both Portland State University and the University of Oregon where he earned a Bachelors degree in Recreation & Park Management. After graduation he began his working career in the public sector serving as both a staff member and later as an administrator with senior centers operated by both the City of Eugene and the City of Lebanon, OR. Following his brief tenure in the senior services field he transitioned to the private sector where he established a highly rewarding and successful 25-year career in the travel industry. While working in travel Bill enjoyed roles as diverse as travel agent, group tour escort, sales manager, systems administrator and director of operations. In joining the CYO/Camp Howard staff as the new Camp Director, Bill returns to his roots in community based recreation. Bill currently lives in NW Portland with his wife Caroline and their three children, John-Patrick (JP), Nora & Clare. The Fogarty’s are active members of St. Juan Diego Parish and the children currently attend Gonzaga University, Jesuit HS and St. Pius X School respectively. Away from work Bill is very active in parish, school and community ministries and programs. He is currently a Eucharistic Ministry Coordinator and Lector at St. Juan Diego Parish and has held roles on Pastoral Council, School Advisory Council and Strategic Planning Council for both St. Pius X and St. Juan Diego parishes. Bill also enjoys working as a parent volunteer with CYO, Jesuit athletics and has been a parent leader for 10 years with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in support of his kids and their peers. He is looking forward to the challenge of adding to the positive legacy Camp Howard has established in Oregon over the last 60 years. |

Lisa Bergeson grew up in Oregon City and attended St. John the Apostle Grade School where she played CYO basketball, volleyball and softball. After graduating from La Salle High School and Oregon State University, she married Eric Bergeson and pursued a career in Sales and Marketing. Lisa and Eric have three children, their oldest is at La Salle Catholic College Prep and their younger two children are attending Christ the King Catholic School. After volunteering her time for many years at her children’s grade school and focusing her efforts on fundraising and community development, Lisa decided to pursue a career in the field of development and fundraising by working for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and then taking on the role of Director of Development for CYO/ Camp Howard. Both Lisa and Eric have been involved in CYO as coaches for Christ the King School and also as involved members of their CYO Board. Lisa serves as Chair of the Christ the King School Advisory Committee, is Christ the King School’s volunteer coordinator, is on the Christ the King Parish Steering Committee and is a member of the La Salle Catholic College Preparatory Alumni Association Board. Lisa believes in the mission statement of CYO “to provide opportunities for people of any race, nationality or religion to discover and be reassured of their self-worth as individuals and as valuable members of society” and is dedicated to providing our athletes and campers with the ability to participate in CYO/Camp Howard activities through the continuing growth of the CYO/Camp Howard Champions of Faith Benefit Dinner and our Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns. |

A native of the Portland area, Bass attended St. Stephen, where she participated in CYO volleyball, basketball and track & field. She went on to play basketball at Central Catholic as well as four years for Willamette University. For the past five years, Bass and her husband John coached their daughters through St. Ignatius CYO. She also held positions as Treasurer and Athletic Director. Bass said, "Basketball has always been a huge part of my life. I believe that CYO gives all children at any level the opportunity to be challenged, have fun and grow as a person and an athlete."

Jeff was born in San Leandro, California and grew up in Vacaville, California. While attending Vacaville High School he played both varsity volleyball and soccer. He graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Social Science and then received his Masters of Arts in Teaching from Concordia University. Jeff worked in banking for over fifteen years, transferring to Portland in 2002. Since moving to Portland, Jeff has been active in youth sports, coaching his sons’ baseball, soccer, basketball and volleyball teams. In addition, he coached All Saints volleyball teams for three years. Jeff is married and lives in Fairview, OR. When not spending time with his family, Jeff enjoys playing on his adult volleyball and kickball teams. |
