CYO provides opportunities for children, 3rd through 8th grades, to participate in Track and Field. Participants compete in one of three groups: Roadrunners - 3rd and 4th grade, Cubs - 5th and 6th grade, and Cadets - 7th and 8th grade. Boys and girls generally compete in their own events.

Track season begins March 19th and continues until the middle of May. There are four developmental meets during the regular season. These meets are intended to provide competitive opportunities to improve performance and, for athletes in the Cub and Cadet divisions, to obtain qualifying marks for the Meet of Champions.

At the end of the season there is a series of championship meets. Roadrunners compete in the Roadrunner Finals.. The final meet of the year, the Meet of Champions, features athletes who have achieved the qualifying standards. This is a two-day meet with preliminaries and finals in the sprints and short relays.
