The coaches are looking forward to mentoring youth entering grades 3-8 of various ability or experience levels, from beginner to advanced. Five mornings of contact football instruction followed by a scrimmage game on the last day are included. Participants are divided into teams by age, weight, size, and ability level. Participants should supply their own athletic supporter, mouthpiece, socks, shoes/cleats, and a water bottle for the camp (water only, no food or other drinks are allowed at the CCHS facility). Campers will receive a complimentary football t-shirt at the close of camp once they turn in their provided CYO gear. Please see our website for more information prior to the start of camp.
Our highly popular summer basketball skills camp is once again scheduled at Valley Catholic High School. With a primary focus on basketball technique and skills development for players of all abilities and experience levels, the camp also features recreational games, lunch, swimming, and a ton of fun for all! This camp has side benefits for campers and parents in that it’s a great place for participants to meet players from other schools, while the program hours are ideal for working parents in the summertime. Just drop your camper off on the way to work, and pick them up at 4 p.m. The Valley Catholic High School coaching staff looks forward to working with all youth entering grades 1-8 in the fall. Joel Sobotka, Head Coach for Valley Catholic’s Men’s Varsity team, will direct the camp. Whether you’re a beginning player or seasoned veteran, you’ll be ready for CYO Basketball at the end of camp. However, you do not need to be a CYO basketball player to register. See our website for more information before the start of camp. A complimentary t-shirt is included.
This exciting program features hands-on lessons for beginning swimmers. Emphasis will be on helping participants foster a love for the water through development of “face in the water” comfort and relaxed aquatic body positioning. Basic swim techniques including front crawl with side breathing, fundamental back float, and the backstroke will be presented. Swim instructor: Mark Lee, CYO Director of Swimming. A complimentary t-shirt is included. Open to camper ages 7-14.
This program is designed for “intermediate” swimmers (participants must be beyond beginner level and comfortable with their face in the water prior to camp) with program activities geared to build upon existing basic swim skills. Swimmers will review the fundamentals of body position and stroke mechanics to become more competent swimmers. Components of all four competitive strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly) will be covered during the camp. Attention will be given to each individual, working through a personalized progression that fosters confidence while pushing to new skill levels. Games will be incorporated into the water activities to ensure that all campers are having fun while learning new life-saving skills to benefit a lifetime. CYO Director of Swimming, Mark Lee, will teach the camp. A complimentary t-shirt is included. Open to camper ages 7-14.
This may be one of the highlights of your summer if you choose to join Joanne Kollman for a week of Art Camp where you will experience the fine art of portrait painting. Joanne Radmilovich Kollman is a widely experienced painter whose work ranges from commercial illustration to fine etchings and oil paintings. For the last 20 years, she has produced hundreds of illustrations for magazines, children’s books, and commercial clients, while maintaining a steady practice in creating original gallery art and graphics. Joanne has a lyrical style and unique eye for design.
This camp will be held on the campus of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon (Valley Catholic School) in Beaverton. In addition to time learning portrait work with Kollman, the basic elements of art will be studied including the construction of a color wheel.
Camp will begin at 9:00 am each day and conclude at 4:00 pm. It is designed to give each child a day filled with art opportunities and convenience for the parent. Lunch and snacks will be served. Bring your swimsuit and a towel because the art clinics will be surrounded by breaks, including swim time at the campus pool and other recreational activities.
Portrait Art Camp with Joanne Kollman is open to all youth who have completed first through eighth grades. Your artist will end the week with the beginning of the budding artist portfolio and a portrait to hang. This is a “do not miss” for the “passionate about art” child. Space will be limited so be sure to sign up for this “once in a lifetime” opportunity.
